What is CALISTHENICS?
Calisthenics is a unique Australian sport that blends gymnastics, dance, marching, song, and apparatus’ such as rods and clubs. It’s all about precision, rhythm, flexibility, coordination, posture, balance, mobility, and self-esteem, while providing an effective form of exercise and promoting overall well-being and self-confidence. Calisthenics is practiced across various levels, with some clubs focusing on recreational participation, while St. Marks competes at multiple competitive tiers within each category. At the competitive level, the sport features elaborate and often theatrical costumes and leotards.
At St. Marks Calisthenics Club, the focus is on building a sense of community, connecting with others, having fun, and developing strong social bonds. When it comes to competitions, athletes put on stunning performances in colourful costumes, showcasing not just skill but also a love for the sport.
Although the majority of training is geared toward competition preparation in the latter part of the year, the fundamental aim of St. Marks Calisthenics Club is to foster enjoyment, fun, and strong social bonds among participants and their families.
